This series of miniature polyptych paintings (details shown above) stem from my need to decode fragments of the increasingly elusive natural world. Sometimes this means getting very close to an area of dense patterns like those made by cypress knees and vines in the Atchafalaya river basin. At other times I might be attracted to a distant complexity such as an impenetrable rock formation along the coast in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland. New narratives, that I arrange like puzzle pieces from contour drawings, local colors, and found textures, speak of sound, structure, and location. |
